Origins
The Barefoot toy concept was born from a need for a rehabilitation
program for young Sri Lankan women who had little to no, schooling
or skills. Today Barefoot is a premier textile design company
exporting worldwide.

Where and how are they made?
All Barefoot toys are fully hand made from start to finish
from a yarn which is hand dyed, using premium Swiss colour
fast and non-toxic dyes. They are hand woven
and fashioned into various woven products with no time constraints
imposed upon the weavers and needle women, insuring only the
highest quality of workmanship. The cloth is in demand for
its utility and appearance. Designers are encouraged to be
innovative and stretch their creative imagination.
Supporting 3rd World Countries
Barefoots provide employment to communities and these women
which are not cheap substitutes for machinery, which is why
Barefoot products are relatively expensive.
Barefoot toys are not mass-produced and no two pieces are
the same. Barefoot is not a charitable organisation, but the
workers receive an honest wage and the joy of being able to
support themselves, acquiring dignity and self-respect.
'Barefoot
is about creation and design. It is about the inspiration
and influence at work behind their intense passion for colour
and textiles'
